Most Valuable Player
Given to the most outstanding plaer in the California League every season. It has been awarded every year since 1941 except for the 1951 season. There was a tie in 1953, 1979, 1980, and 2019.
Rookie of the Year
Rookie of the Year
Known as the Eddie Mulligan Award since 1976, the award is given to the most outstanding player in their first year in the California League.
Pitcher of the Year
Pitcher of the Year
The Pitcher of the Year Award is given out annually to the best pitcher in the California League. It was first awarded in 1984 and there was a tie in 1988.
Manager of the Year
Manager of the Year
The Manager of the Year Award is given to the most outsdanding manager in the California League every season. The award was not given out in 1951. There was a tie in 1949, 1968, 1980, and 2006.
Coach of the Year
Coach of the Year
The Coach of the Year Award is handed out to the best coach in the California League each season. Often times this award is given to the Pitching Coach or the Hitting Coach of the same team as the Manager of the Year.
Turf Manager
Turf Manager of the Year
The Turf Manager of teh Year Award is based on 11 criteria, including overall playing surface, outfield/infield turf, pitcher's mound condition, and overall professionalism of the Grounds Crew. Before 2003 the award was known as 'Groundskeeper of the Year'.
Clubhouse Manager
Clubhouse Manager of the Year
The Clubhouse Manager of the Year Award, often referred to as the 'Clubbie of the Year', is given to the best overall clubhouse manager in the Californai League. It was first awarded in 2010.
Athletic Trainer
Athletic Trainer of the Year
The Athletic Trainer of the Year Award is given out annually to the best overall Athletic Trainer in the California League. It is awarded by the Professional Baseball Athletic Trainers Society (PBATS) and it is voted on by all the California League Athletic Trainers.
Doug Harvey Award
The Califronia League was the first and is the only league in Minor League baseball to honor an Umpire. The Umpire of the Year Award was named the Doug Harvey Award after Hall of Fame umpire Doug Harvey, who umpired in the Majors for more than 30 seasons as well as umpired in the California League from 1958 to 1960. The recipient of this award is determined by votes from the Cal League Managers.
